Big Breakfast

My mom and I just ate breakfast at this new deli nearby. The servings
were huge!! All we can say is "Delicioso!"

Date Night

Paul and I went out to a dinner and then saw Phantom on Saturday. Great night! Why do I look pregnant in this pic? I need to get my ('go-go tunic' as my mom calls it) altered..Too big..And the hub has a fro from a shadow behind his head..We take the funniest pictures together..Anyway, we had a great time getting some treasured alone time out.

The Amazing Paul

Paul correctly predicted the 4 American Idol contestants who would be voted off before the program aired last night. Again I stared at him totally perplexed & just shook my head at the end of the show. You'd think I'd be used to it by now..He freaks his friends out too when they go to watch sports or go to games..I need to have him start buying lottery tickets..Maybe get a bookie..

The New Sombrero

Learning to knit: fun (but geeky according to Paul)

Taking a private knitting lesson: again, fun-the gal was hysterical (but even more geeky according to u know who)

Finishing my first hat: Proud (and surprised when the man says "Wow, it's cool !")

Here's Pip modeling the hat as well as her cheerleader outfit that her aunt and uncle gave her for Christmas. She wears this dress all the time! Now Hunter wants me to knit him a black skull cap for snowboarding..Here we go again..

Pops is Golfin

I've mean to post this pic for awhile but just finally got around to editing it..This is a picture of Paul across the street at the driving range. The kids and I are up in the playroom taking pictures and heckling him. He didn't hear us but we were laughing hysterically anyway...and yes, that is snow on the mountains behind him. Wish I had put the zoom lens on!

Darth Pippie

Playing in the playroom this morning..Pip dawns her ballet recital outfit and Hunter's darth vader mask followed by Hunter's Jason mask (both old Halloween costumes in case you think my son is weird)..The following pics are such a contradiction but at the same time, sooo funny.

American Idol

Last night Paul and I were watching American Idol..Once again my hubby freaks me out with his crazy psychic ability. He says right before the Aussie guy sings, "He's gonna sing The Doors...Light My Fire." Sure nuf, he did..I just stared at him..Anyway, my fave is the 17 year old David..He's got the pipes. Well, maybe my other fave is the dreadlock guy or the Aussie too. Yeah, I love American Idol, I admit it.

Road Trippin'

Here's one of the many conversations between Hunter and Piper on the way back from our Brian Head trip:

Hunter - "Piper don't lick your foot, you'll get worms."

Piper - giggle, giggle..silence..a few minutes later: "Well, can I lick my arm then?"

Hunter - "Yeah, I guess that's ok"

Piper - "Ok, smell my feet!"

A gross bodily function conversation ensues between the two of them, followed by Piper karate chopping Hunter, then several "Don't bother me's" between the two of them and a fight over Hunter's headphones..See picture:

In the meantime, Paul put his headphones on while he's driving..A few minutes later, Piper says, "Bo-Bo are there worms in my blanket?" "Yep" says Hunter..more giggles from Pip.

Finally, after about 3 hours of torturing her brother, she fell asleep..

Brian Head Ski Trip

We went skiing and snowboarding this weekend at Brian Head. The weather was perfect...tons of snow and short lift lines. I only had 2 minor falls on my board which is great for me..Hunter and Paul didn't have any spills. Pip had fun making snow angels and knocking us all over into the snow..

The Real Me..

A couple of weeks ago I had some photos taken of me. They were a gift for Paul on Valentine's Day. It was fun to have hair and make-up done even though I was freezing throughout the shoot. Although I'd love to look this all the time, it's way too much work! The real me is no make up, t-shirt and jeans with my hair in a ponytail..Ahh, much more comfy..Here is my favorite shot. Be kind if you comment, my fragile ego can only take so much ;-)

Warning to Future Readers

A forewarning: There will be some strange comments to some of my posts. My brother loves to leave funny or weird comments on my voicemail, email, and now on my blog..He can't help himself, he's an ACTOR! ;-) Anyway, he's the best big bro you could ask for so (for better or worse!) I'll publish all (or most of!) his zany comments..If you want to check out his blog, look at my links. It's the Old Ladies Pond..

Giving Blood

I had to get blood work done today for my doctor (routine physical stuff)..Why are the blood lab places so dreary and clinical? The only highlight was watching David Cassidy on Oprah. Of course about a minute after it came on, my name was called..Ick, the gal looked like she hated her job so of course, I took the brunt of it. She was rough and took 4 vials..Ouch. I don't know which place I detest worse..these places or the DMV...Oh well, at least I had time to knit my latest creation for awhile..

Buckethead

Piper wanted Hunter to 'play' play-doh with her. So of course, in true Bo-Bo style, he talks her into putting a bucket on her head so he can put a play-doh face on it. She was a little hesitant at first but once she did it, she didn't want to take it off..Too funny!!!

A Daddy, A Daughter, and a Bottle of Nail Polish

So I come into the bathroom this morning and find Paul sitting on the floor with Pip painting her nails. I must say it's one of the cutest things I've ever seen. She was just chatting away while daddy was trying not to mess up with the polish. When he did, Pip said, "Daddy, fix it!" Ever the patient one, Daddy took a deep breath and fixed the offending nail. My hubby is such a guy..sports fanatic, skier, golfer..but I love that he's not afraid to sit down and have some 'girlie' time with his daughter.

I finished it but is it really done?!

I had a huge achievement last night (well not huge but pretty cool anyway). I finished knitting this scarf I've been working on FOREVER. It was only after I finished binding off did I notice that wayyy down towards the bottom (about 20 rows up) I all of a sudden decreased each row by about 2-3 stitches..How the heck did I do that?! I started this baby about a year ago (then got bored with it) when I was a brand new knitter so I must have done it then. Oh well, at least I can use the excuse that I'm still kind of a newbie at this (gotta work it while I can)..Anyway, I love how it turned out and will start wearing it soon. Why didn't I finish it sooner?

Currently, I'm working on two different hats at the same time..We'll see when I get those babies done..Now if I could only figure out how to crochet this fun purple fur around the edges of my scarf. I'm sure I'll be up tonight until 1am trying to figure it out. Knitting has definitely become my latest obsession..

How the heck did I do that?!

First Day of Preschool

So today was Piper's first day of preschool. She was very excited to wear her Cinderella backpack and to play on the playground. Even knowing what to expect, my heart was in my throat and I was fighting the tears. She was such a big girl, she didn't even want me to walk her in but to be dropped off out front. Of course, mommy walked her to her classroom and signed her in. We were the first ones there so we took time exploring room and finding her cubby. I had a feeling she wouldn't freak out when I left so when she didn't, I was relieved. She just waved and said, "Bye Mom!" Mommy on the other hand was a different story - Tears all the way to the grocery store!

Update - Piper was all smiles when I picked her up. She gave me a big hug and said she had lots of fun..Whew! :-)

eye doctor

Piper and I went to a peds opthamologist today to get a stye on her eye checked out. She was such a trooper. Two eye patches, eye dialations and 2 hours later she was still smiling. You can see the stye in the picture of the two of us.

thinking of my precious angel

I found this quote on a friend of a friend's blog which reminded me of Wrigley:

"These three are enough. These three fill my days and nights and sometimes beyond. These three are brimming with my hopes and prayers. These three can't hold any more of my love, but I wish there was just one more. There's room in our home for one more. There's room in our hearts for one more. We have all this extra love that's missing a child."

This is how I feel all the time. Wrigley is never far from my mind regardless of what I'm doing. Now that Piper is older, she asks about her big sister all the time. It never ceases to amaze me that whenever she has a balloon, she wants to let it go so she can send it up to 'Wriggles'. She asks sometimes if she can go up to Heaven to see Wrigley. How do I answer that? All I can say is "Some day lovebug but not today. She's watching over you until then." I think (hope) she is comforted by that.

People say that time helps ease the pain. That is such b.s. Time has made my pain intensify. The only thing I can say is that over time I've learned how to manage it. Sometimes I still feel like I've been punched in the stomach, I can't breathe and just crumple to my knees. Tonight is one of those nights.

I've had close friends and family members express concern as to why I won't talk about her much or do something extra special on her birthday. My answer is this: I talk about her at home with Paul and the kids & that's about all I can handle. Her birthday is the most painful day of my life so it's enough that I can get out of bed let alone try to re-live that day.

I wish she were here. I wish I could see her as a 4 1/2 year old. I wish I could see her as a big sister to Piper and a little sister to her brothers. I wish I could see her fighting with her siblings over toys and cartoons, crying over boo-boos, crashing on her trike, and being silly with her uncle and grandparents. I wish Paul could have both his girls with him. Life can be so unfair. These days where I hit bottom are not as frequent as they used to be but when they do happen, they are just as intense. There is just no other way to navigate it but to bury myself in my faith and peek my head out. That is the only thing that has gotten me through. Good Night my sweet angel.

Brown Hair

So I went in for my usual 6 week color appointment to touch up my red but for some reason came out a chocolate brown brunette. Oddly enough I like it. It's darker than my natural mousy brown which is all I care about. Sometimes you get bored with the norm and need a change. I'm sure this won't stay forever but it's a change. Paul likes my "70's" haircut..funny. The jury is still out on Hunter and Piper. I love my gals that do my hair. Liz and I laugh hysterically while she colors me and Luba makes ME laugh while she styles my hair. She told me on Saturday in her thick Ukrainin accent, "This color much better for you. Just don't straighten it..makes your face look fat. I hate it when people lie to your face about your hair." Now how can I argue with that logic?

I'm married. I have 3 kids. I have a big nose. Now go on and catch up.

Keep it nice or I'll post your email and make fun of you.
